Thunderbird Professor to keynote Arizona Women's Leadership Forum Fall Leadership Symposium
Thunderbird School of Global Management Professor Karen Walch, Ph.D., will be a keynote speaker at the Arizona Women’s Leadership Forum’s tenth annual Leadership Fall Symposium 8:30 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 12 at the J.W. Marriott Desert Ridge in Phoenix, Ariz. The symposium is an interactive full-day conference bringing together a diverse group of distinguished leaders and leadership experts with influential executives and professionals. Walch’s presentation “Women in Negotiation: Unleashing Your Innate Social, Emotional and Analytical Skills to Get What You Want and Deserve” is open to the media, but not the general public.
In her presentation, Walch will demonstrate how women can enhance, often unconscious, social and emotional skills already latent in women's style, as well as prepare for the strategic elements in a negotiation. She will also provide a practical framework to enhance negotiation preparation that has been tested across cultures and industries and builds on the latest research in brain science.
Walch has an academic background in international negotiation, cultural competencies, and global mindset. She has over 30 years of experience in various business and academic contexts, including insurance, law, tourism, aquaculture, security studies, and MBA graduate education. Walch has received over a dozen teaching awards and specializes in the area of cultural competencies and negotiation planning and strategy applied to the areas of, but not limited to consultative sales processes; key account management; management/labor practices; joint venture and partnerships; global virtual marketing and manufacturing teams; family run businesses; and customer relations.
The symposium combines substantive programs with a highly-interactive atmosphere that encourages a sharing of information, insights and inspiration among speakers and attendees. The symposium enables participants to focus on their leadership roles in the business world and beyond, share insights and inspiration and build valuable relationships with peers.
