Thunderbird President Named One of Valley’s Most Admired Leaders by Phoenix Business Journal

May 14, 2013

Phoenix Business Journal has selected Thunderbird School of Global Management President Larry Edward Penley, Ph.D. as one of the Valley’s Most Admired Leaders.

Dr. Penley and a small group of leaders across the Valley were selected for their leadership, dedication and impact on their organization and the community.

“At the Phoenix Business Journal, we always are seeking out top-level executives who have earned that right and who understand that being a good leader means more than just ‘running’ the company,” Phoenix Business Journal Editor Ilana Lowery stated in a recent article. “Each year, through an advisory board, research, and newsroom and publisher input, we find a solid group of individuals who deserve to wear the badge of ‘Most Admired Leader.’”

Since being named president of Thunderbird in November 2012, Dr. Penley has revised the school’s full-time MBA curriculum to better suit the changing needs of students and employers, and announced plans for a partnership that will increase the school’s global footprint.

In addition to leading the world’s No. 1-ranked school of international business, Dr. Penley’s commitment to community development has led him to serve on a variety of nonprofit boards, including the Greater Phoenix Economic Council, INROADS Arizona, Institute of International Education, and the National Society of Hispanic MBAs.
