Thunderbird hosting golf benefit at Grayhawk

March 19, 2008

(GLENDALE, Ariz.) March 17, 2008, Thunderbird School of Global Management is hosting its inaugural golf tournament to benefit the Thunderbird Global Private Equity Center and a scholarship fund, which supports students pursuing careers in private equity.

The event will be held at Grayhawk Golf Club’s Talon Course April 5 and will include participation from global investment leaders from around the world who are gathering earlier that week for Thunderbird’s annual Global Private Equity and Venture Capital Conference. Registration is open to the public, and participants in this Modified Scramble-style tournament will include not only local Phoenician business leaders, but also private equity professionals from Arcapita, Cisco, UPS Fund, Duff & Phelps.

Grayhawk, one of Arizona’s top golf destinations, is home of the 2007 PGA tour Fry’s Electronics Open, the 2008 PGA tour Frys.com Open and other high-profile competitive golf events.

Pam Wright, the Scottish-born LPGA Professional, Arizona State University Hall of Famer and Solheim Cup player and co-captain will be on hand to hit tee shots on the par-3 eleventh hole, one of the most recognizable holes on the Talon Course (175 yards all carry over a chasm to a two-tiered green that is well-guarded by bunkers).

The event features four individual Million Dollar Shot opportunities, a team money ball competition with separate team awards, a chance to win a vehicle from Legends Cadillac Hummer Saab hole-in-one, and a choice of tee gifts from the Executive Gift Store. The store includes items such as Maui Jim sunglasses, Portable Garmond GPS system, Riedel stemware and decanters and an IPOD waterproof sound case.

The luncheon awards reception will feature former president of Thunderbird, Roy Herberger, a silent auction, and wine provided by Shark Trust Wines.

To sign up for the Thunderbird Golf Event at Grayhawk, please register online by Friday, March 28th.
