Thunderbird holds venture capital forum for valley entrepreneurs

Valley entrepreneurs are invited to attend “Understanding the Capital Process,” a forum co-hosted by Thunderbird School of Global Management Private Equity Center (TPEC) and the Thunderbird Alumni Phoenix Chapter on Wednesday, Sept. 29 at the Wells Fargo Conference Center at 6 p.m. The event is open the media and the public.

The forum is sponsored by RISC LLC and aims to engage entrepreneurs in a discussion on how to acquire venture capital in the changing economy.

“We have leading venture capital and angel investors from around the Valley coming to lend their experience to those working on acquiring capital in this evolving economy,” said James La Marche, managing director of TPEC. “It’s time to get people and companies investing in the Valley and global businesses again.”

The forum will be moderated by Brian Burt, a partner at Snell & Wilmer, and panelists include Dee Harris from the Thunderbird Angel Network, Kevin Fechtmeyer, managing director of Cave Creek Capital Management, and Brian Burns, managing director of Grayhawk Ventures.

Participants will receive first-hand insights into the processes for obtaining capital and have opportunities to ask in-depth questions about what it really takes to get funding as a start-up or an existing business. In addition there will be a silent auction and raffle to raise money for the Phoenix Thunderbird alumni chapter’s annual scholarship and participants will have a chance to hear how the newly-formed Thunderbird Angel Network will help develop young companies.

Finally, participants will have the opportunity to network with like-minded attendees, investors and professionals.

The cost of attendance is $20 for the general public and $15 for Thunderbird alumni members. Interested participants can register online.
