MOL Group’s LEAD Program Wins Leadership 500 Award

Thunderbird School of Global Management, one of the world’s leaders in Executive Education, has designed and delivered award-winning programs for MOL’s mid- and senior-level leaders. As a result, MOL Group’s LEAD program has been selected among the top five in the category of international companies of HR.com’s Leadership 500 Award. HR.com is the leading global human resources community with 200,000 members showcasing best HR practices, latest trends and industry news.

“As MOL Group transforms from a National to an International Oil Company, it is critical that their leaders align with the company’s important strategic priorities,” said Sarah Schwab, general manager of EMEA at Thunderbird Executive Education. “For this reason, Thunderbird customized leadership curricula in the LEAD programs to address the strategic topics most important to MOL’s business.”

The LEAD program was established in 2013, and has been MOL Group’s key vehicle to manage organizational changes. Through the development of the LEAD program, MOL Group aims to build future generations of global leaders who can deliver excellent business results in volatile and uncertain business environments.

The leadership development program participants come from diverse cultural and professional backgrounds, representing 11 countries from Austria to Iraq. Since the program has been started, more than 300 LEAD nominees went through a strict selection process conducted by external professionals specialized in talent assessment. As a result, 65 participants have been developed into the next team of great leaders to shape the future with MOL Group.

The LEAD programs developed by Thunderbird help leaders understand their strategic priorities in detail and how they apply to day-to-day decisions. “It is normally very difficult to implement such strategies in such a busy and fast-paced environment, but they are essential to drive business performance in such a competitive industry,” states Schwab. “This is where our programs assist companies like MOL Group.”

“It’s an honor to win the Leadership 500 Award, and a great recognition for MOL Group being selected out of 200 nominees. Our development programs represent a major investment into the future of MOL Group, so we are continually working on improving them,” says Zdravka Demeter Bubalo, Human Resources Vice President of MOL Group.

“We are thrilled that MOL Group is receiving an award for their excellence in leadership,” said Schwab. “It is very exciting to have partnered with MOL’s senior leadership team and Cotrugli Business School in the design and delivery of their leadership programs. Thunderbird’s experience in the oil and gas sector, and our shared goal of creating business impact through customized executive education, has proven to be a recipe for success.”
