Thunderbird appoints one to Board of Trustees

Thunderbird School of Global Management announces Robert A. Theleen, Chairman and CEO of ChinaVest, the oldest American merchant banking firm in Greater China, to its Board of Trustees.

Theleen, a former Thunderbird Board of Fellows member, graduated from Thunderbird in 1970. He began working in China first in 1978 as an investment banker, before founding ChinaVest in 1981. The company has acted as a mergers and acquisitions  advisor to numerous Fortune 500 clients, raised more than US$400 million from leading American and European institutions and has invested in industries from light manufacturing and information technology. (Full list of Thunderbird Board of Trustees.)

Thunderbird also has announced the addition of two new members to the Board of Fellows. This group is a network of Thunderbird advisers who also help fulfill the school’s mission.

The first new Board of Fellows member is former Thunderbird Trustee Sheikha Lubna Al-Qasimi, Minister for Foreign Trade for the United Arab Emirates. Previously Minister for Economy, she was the first woman in the history of the UAE to be appointed to a cabinet position.

The second appointment to the board is Lynda C. Webster, Chairman and CEO of The Webster Group, a full service event planning, fundraising, strategic planning and foundation management company based in Washington DC.
